ABOUT JULIE MARLOW
FOUNDING PRINCIPAL

WELLxDESIGN is led by designer and strategist Julie Marlow.  With a bachelors degree in Psychology from Georgetown University and graduate degree in Interior Design from Parsons, The New School for Design, she uniquely combines her diverse experience to translate research into actionable strategies and develop thoughtful, human-centric environments that support wellbeing and performance.

Believing in the power of design to elevate the holistic human experience, Julie brings a novel storytelling, insight-driven perspective to the design field. She has strong background in visioning and concepting through to design execution, partnering successfully with a variety of organizations and partners to help them navigate the complex world of research, strategy and design to see their vision come to life and get a return on their investment.  An example of this is the redesign of a new North American HQ for an energy company which significantly increased not only employee attendance more than 300% but performance and satisfaction as well.

Julie has worked at 3 of the top 10 Architecture and Design firms in the world, working on more than 1M+ sf on commercial, healthcare and education projects globally. She is National Council of Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) certified, a WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) and Healthy Materials Advocate.  She has also been a featured presenter, guest speaker and facilitator at a number of industry events and platforms, including International Interior Design Association (IIDA), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) and Spec Matters.

MY APPROACH

As someone who's always been curious about the human experience and very sensitive to the spaces I'm in, blending my background in Psychology and Design with my lived experience as someone with neurodiversity (ADHD), felt like an unique and critical approach to bring to the industry.

In my life, I've been in numerous spaces that didn't feel like they were designed for people.  My mission is to bring back the focus on the holistic human experience within the built environment - focusing on the physical, mental and emotional ways that space can impact people, both individually and collectively.  With an additional lens on neurodiversity, inclusivity and biophilia, my work aims to create a welcoming, regulating, safe space for everyone.
